Well made propaganda. An excellent neutral question that is designed to instantly put the police on the defensive: "How do I file a complaint against an officer."

It used to be that the local police departments were paid by the local citizens as part of the property taxes. But more and more county and state officers are paid by the Feds through the use of special grants, "donated" military-style hardware, National Guard support, etc. Not to mention the fat stacks of cash from fines, fees and permits, plus asset seizures of cars, houses, boats, electronics, etc. At a certain point the police state will probably become 100% self financing. Then you better look out.

So, what can you do about it? Just learn to say "No". If a cop is fishing for information, just say No. If an agency asks for more money, just say No. Don't give in to their scare tactics. Do they really need a $250,000 APC to carry the SWAT team to a trailer? Do they need a helicopter to fly around every night looking for grow houses? Does every cop need their own Hummer so they can leave it idling for an hour so it won't get hot inside while eating lunch? (Yesterday at the sub shop)

About the best (or worst, depending on how you look at it) thing you can do in any confrontation is to keep your whore mouth shut. About the only three things you should say are "Am I being arrested, or am I free to leave?", "I don't consent to any search." and "May I have your full name and badge number?". After that, you can sort it out during booking.

Do it for the children.

The other day the BF and I saw a shit load of BMW cop bikes parked in front of Fuddruckers (which is apparently the cop hang out here). Not only is the town I live considered one of the safest in the nation for its size or some bullshit, which basically means there is nothing for the cops to do, which means it is even MORE ridiculous for them even being riding those fucking things and not to mention how the fucking State of CA isn't hiring for shit/work furloughs but they have money for that? And so on ...

The problem with shit like this is that reporting isn't the same as investigating.  You'll notice they didn't show any footage of them being politely handed a form and given instructions on how to properly file it; you know that happened more often than the shit they show did.

If you go to enough places you'll eventually find an asshole who will give you the show that you want, and when you dealing with cops or military types that will happen sooner rather than later...

If it makes you feel better, think of people like this as the "Secret Shoppers" for governmental employees. Even if only 1% of the cops act this way, that's the 1% that need firing, pronto.

Do you see firemen rolling down the street, parking wherever they want, busting up people because they feel like it? Have they started to threaten to burn down your house if you refuse to give them your personal ID? Do Librarians demand to see your library card before you can make a complaint? Can a garbageman expect a free pass for a DUI because he is a county employee?

If the Police want respect, they have to earn it, just like the rest of us.

I agree completely

But I'm going to say it's more like 10% that need to be fired no questions asked

Of course, but don't be hating them for riding BMWs. They are cheaper and safer than the Harleys. BMWs have had anti-lock brakes for 15 years on motorcycles, Harley still doesn't offer it. Maintenance and repair costs are usually cheaper over the long run. And they don't wake up sleeping babies...
