Daughter(tm) came down sick this afternoon....I am now stuck in the house with a very, very unhappy teenager who worked for 2 weeks on a costume so she could go trick-r-treating with friends who are back in town for the holiday.
I am in Hell.
I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who listened to whining last night. My monsters have the flu and weren't allowed out either. They changed costumes and went around the block twice last year though, so i figure it evened out. That's not how they see it. Has she "gifted" you with it yet? Mine did, either tamiflu is good stuff or I've had something enough like it before. It hasn't been that bad for me

Relenza is the alternative, and it's much better, IMHO, because there are fewer strains that are resistant to it (unlike Tamiflu).

I kind of picture us as the inbred family from the X-Files episode "Home."

The first time that episode aired, I was 7 or 8 months pregnant with Sofakid.
I couldn't sleep that night.

Jesus God, I expect not.
I forgot how very disturbing some of those X-Files episodes were...like that one...and the one about the human fluke...

All of the older kids and adults that have gotten it in our household had no problem beating it without drugs; the younger kids where completely wiped out by it (in a scary way).

I don't know. If I can get the flu and the worst symptom I have, other than a slight cough that started before I took anything, is feeling cold then hot for a few hours, it's pretty good stuff. The hospital sent the youngest monster's stuff off to be tested for H1N1, so it's not sure yet that's what it was. Emmeran's right it was much worse for the little ones. The Pediatrician told us he had a nine year old die the day before, and that kid had no other problems. The Boss might not have wanted to order me the best stuff, I'm not sure how mad she was at me that day. She's taking it once a day instead of twice though, so it's good enough for her.

Those are basically the symptoms myself and my kids had, righteous fever and that was it. The 8 year old (who is a fire plug of a rugby player also) went down like he was pole-axed and was panting like he had just run wind sprints while resting flat on his back. Dime-tap took care of that symptom though and he was good in about 4 days.

Next year, I'd give my eye teeth to see our lovely ladies in one of these costumes...

Fantasy Fest is fun for the participants, but us poor airbrushers spend the whole weekend working our asses off, painting from 7:30 in the morning until about 11:00 at night, plus time for touchups. I can go through at least 5 gallons, yes gallons, of paint in a 4 day weekend, mostly Body-of-Color stuff at $10 an ounce. The leopard job might only be 20 minutes of work, but those damn stripes can be an hour to get the layering right. My right had is so cramped at the end of the weekend I can barely drive home. At least some of the new alcohol based inks dry quickly and don't run when you sweat so I don't have to touch them up during the day.
Still, it's fun to watch the (mostly) heteros take over Key West for a couple of days a year.
