Given that China's population is exploding, these cities will be occupied eventually, perhaps by squatters seeking freedom from government control of their lives.

You can do that in any number of places here in Florida. Whole neighborhoods with 1 or 2 houses in them, often unoccupied.

Yeah, but there are people driving around.  I don't want moving obstacles, for that there's a track much closer to home.  Besides there are machine gun rental places in China, I figure they could add that to the abandoned city and make for some real driving amusement .
