Was that for real? I laughed so hard.
I was vegetarian for 15+ years, but it was never because I cared about animal suffering-- we've all seen the kind of shit they do to each other. Having humans, rather than another species, do the killing animals *is* merciful.

A couple of days ago, I was prepping shrimp for a catering event and, very carefully, inserting bamboo skewers into their bungholes to drive straight through their little bodies, straightening them out so that they wouldn't curl up as they cooked. The week before that I spent several hours one day making forcemeat from rabbit and chicken.
I don't think animals would be too freaked out by the fact that we eat them - I think they'd be absolutely appalled by the weird processes we put them through before we actually eat them, however.
