Tell me now, what in this do you really disagree with?

I don’t know about Sofie’ s opinion, but I have to agree that the Dirty Fucking Hippies really were right.  And many of them gave up the fight and morphed into Yuppy Scum who decided they might as well get their share of the spoils.

Some did, yes indeed.  I tend to know many that morphed in to Bohemians, poets, writers.  Good folk, nice kids, partners, etc.  Most still walk their walk, but I am with you on your take.

Kumba-fuckin-ya.

Let's take a small, common example and dig in:

Who do you think provides you the electricity that makes your free trade coffee each morning? Who finances the bonds that build the water pipes to bring you the clean water? Who builds and runs the super cargo ships that brings your beans from 12,000 miles away? Who made the cup you are drinking it from?

Multi-national corporations operating hand-in-hand with oppressive governments with the sole motive of making a buck.

What would the world look like without greedy entrepreneurs trying to squeeze the last dollar out of every consumer?

and what would the world look like if those same entrepreneurs weren't kept on a short leash?

...as usual, it is in the middle that the happy place is to be found.

Every time there is a dip in the economy we hear the voices of the non-producers screaming about how the "corporations" are fucking up the world.  Yet, as Goober points out, they are just fine with what they like to refer to as "living off the land", when, in fact, it amounts to living off the producers of the world.  Were it not for investors and grownups, there would be no hippies, bums, anarchists, and liberal professors because nobody would be there to feed them.

Ah... and you consider yourself a "producer"?

Yes, I do.  I could give you a list of the projects I have developed, but I might as well post my bio here.  Most of the projects were not housing or commercial developments, but would be considered "green" by most.  At last count I have about 8 pages on Google.  Some of results are mixed in with others and some are repeats, but I've done a lot of things I feel are productive.  I've paid a ton of taxes and I get just a little perturbed when I hear about how evil corporations are.

Let's all just agree not to perturb Phreddy any more.  Okay?

I wrote this long response and then I forgot my point so I just deleted it all. I'm not even stoned, either?

As a hippie, I resent being called dirty.  Maybe I don’t wear deodorant, but I don’t smell like BO or patchouli.

That looks good to me.  At least we wouldn’t get fat.

I'm up for perturbing my favorite corporate shill, Phwed.  Unfortunately, I have a couple of businesses to run.
