When I was about 12, my mother asked me to stop watching television long enough to take care of some mundane task, such as setting the table. "That's woman's work," I replied. I was grounded for a week, and she made it abundantly clear that I wasn't being punished entirely for back-talking, but for even suggesting that housework was beneath me as a male.
I've pretty much considered myself a feminist ever since.

The mother should start fucking the latino gardener immediately. You know, to provide some "cultural reference" to his life...

She's overthinking things.
Kids pick up on parental attitudes, so she better learn to chill, or prepare for the therapy fiesta to come.

Good lord this is like reading the teachings of my own mom regarding my little brother. Though instead of picking pink for the color of his room he picked a baby blue. I don't see the difference really.

It's not all that bad. You just have to read between the lines:
I have a college education, as does my current partner and my son's father.
Broken marriage, 1 demerit.
I am outreach worker for a family planning agency
Mother works outside the home, 2 demerits
we allowed my son to pick whatever color he wanted to paint his room
...
He was not allowed to watch any tv or videos that implied or depicted violence as a younger child
Inconsistent and hypocritical decisions by the parent, 3 demerits.
Don't worry, he will turn out just as judgmental and fucked up as everyone else, regardless of your "privileged" status.
