The Cannabis Cafe in Portland, Oregon, is the first to give certified medical marijuana users a place to get hold of the drug and smoke it -- as long as they are out of public view -- despite a federal ban.
If you have a medical card in California, you can go to a club, buy it, and consume it right there. Is this place special because they serve food that doesn’t have weed in it?

The Netherlands has a very low rate of drug usage of any kind because marijuana is legal for anybody who is the least bit interested in trying it. The people who sell pot legally suffer severe penalties if they try to sell their customers any drug other than pot. Many of the pot smokers in Amsterdam are foreigners from America and countries in Europe. The Europeans are kids who go to Amsterdam on holiday to smoke pot as an act of rebellion. After “Spring Break” in Amsterdam, they go back to their own countries and resume their normal lives.
It’s occurred to me that the medicalization of pot may result in a reduction of usage in America. Once young people begin to see pot as something used by people with cancer, arthritis, glaucoma, and other problems that are usually associated with getting old, pot smoking will be seen by them as being on a par with and as sexy as using Vicks VapoRub and Geritol.

I'm still not sure how I feel about legalizing weed in the US. I think it might be that usually people who also smoke weed, you kind of feel that bond like - oh cool, you smoke too (excluding the dirty hippies or the people that ACT like dirty hippies). But I don't want to look over and see some total douche smoking weed and feel that bond with that asshole. I think it would ruin it for me and that feeling would be gone and instead of hating the majority of people, I would hate them all.

the only reason you feel that bond is because it is illicit. Do you still get the same feeling when you see some addict smoking a cigarette, or some NASCAR fan drinking a beer?
For that matter, got to South Alabama & share a joint with some of the locals. That will cure you of your bonding tendencies REAL fast.
If ever it did come to fruition, the same public consumption laws that apply to alcohol would likely be applied to that as well. So it would come down to where you were hanging out.....
