Sounds like that old AJ Liebling chestnut, "Freedom of the press belongs to those who own one." Admirable but they're barking up the wrong tree, I think. Too sitting duck vulnerable to target practice.

It's true, but it will never be a replacement for the regular Internet or even an effective escape hatch for oppressed peoples.  There's just no way you can get the capacity you would need, and regular Internet users would find the latency maddening.  Still, I applaud any attempt to flip the bird at those who increasingly want to put the Internet cat back into the bag.

And of course, as choad points out, the minute they did come up with something effective it would be target practice time for your local oppressive regime.
