I've never understood the need of gay men to find a place in the Christian church. The artwork does little to clear it up for me.

It's been documented that the church performed same sex wedding ceremonies up until the twelfth century.  One of the wedding gifts I received was an icon of David and Jonathon declaring their love for each other.  They and other pairs of gay saints were invoked as part of the wedding ceremonies for same sex couples.

Fuditards also don’t understand the context of St. Paul’s condemnation of homosexual sex.  What he was freaking out about was forced sex between masters and slaves (or other unequal partners where genuine consent isn’t possible), and gay prostitution at the pagan temples, which counted as an act of pagan worship.  Christians were not to participate in these things.  The bible itself says the Sodom & Gomorrah myth was about inhospitality, indifference to the suffering of the less fortunate, and rape.

And of course funditards do many things that the absurd Old Testament Purity Codes prohibit, such as eating shrimp, eating ham sandwiches, eating cheeseburgers, engaging in sex while the woman is having her period, and wearing polyester blend clothes.  And they have the highest divorce and remarriage rate of any group of people in this country, something Jesus explicitly forbade.  If Jesus had felt homosexuality was a big deal he would have talked about it.

So hating gay people isn’t a necessary part of Christianity, let alone an authentic major tenet of the faith supported by the sacred writings that the funditards believe are the literal words of Gawd.  There is a passage in the Gospel of Mark about a naked young man who was with Jesus when he was arrested.  This young man and his relationship with Jesus is discussed in detail in The Secret Gospel Of Mark, which was known to the early church, but which didn’t make the cut to be included in the official canon.

Yeah, yeah, I've ready read all these things and heard all these arguments, and I'm probably better versed in Christian theology than the vast majority of Christians. It still seems absolutely ludicrous to me that gays would clamor to find a place in an institution that is so unfriendly to them, and which has absolutely no reasonable basis on which to support its beliefs, ie., the existence of God, miracles, etc., much less its stance on homosexuality. Just the fact that the various churches are so torn on the issue is, alone, proof enough they don't have the final say on the fact that I like dick.

This is not even a "gay" issue. Anyone who has a religious/spiritual belief is a crazy person. My strategy is to not share that fact with people I want to fuck. It's surprising how many are offended by it.

For instance... I'm going to a BDSM party with a divorced bisexual church deacon this Saturday. Why does she even go to church?

Oh, and to clarify, liking dick does not necessarily make you gay. As long as the only dick you like happens to be yours.

And many churches frown on that too.
