Guess I'm surprised it took this long.

Well, going by the old adage "Once is happenstance, twice is coincidence, three times is enemy action," we're still at coincidence stage.

The first two lines were laid right next to each other and could easily have been cut by a single anchor.  The internet has done its job and re-routed around the damage, and judging by this map I'd say that the Mossad or whoever (I don't see the current US admin. as being competent/clever enough to come up with this idea, plus the US military probably would have gone in to sever as many lines at once as possible, and followed with any sort of Geneva-defying attack that they didn't want published immediately after) would be cutting cables to Iran has their work cut out for them before the country goes black.

You have forgotten the 4th line cut yesterday in the Indian Ocean.

The outage is less troubling than where the traffic reroutes.

In other news holes, the number of people paid wages to inform you - formerly print media and broadcast - shrinks so fucking fast it takes my brave new world breath away.

Oh, let see... all traffic to the Middle East is now being re-routed through the US hubs.

Gee.

I wonder if that's useful to the NSA?

Naaaaaahh.

A third undersea fibre optic cable running through the Suez to Sri Lanka was cut Friday, said a Flag official.

Still no mention of a fourth cable.

I was actually just coming here to post that exact link.

OK, so is it the US or Israel doing it, I wonder.

Awesome.  I think this'll be my email signature for a while.  The attribution to George Orr should cause a nice bit of confusion as well, as long as you (George) have no objections.

I always liked David Lesher's .sig:

A host is a host from coast to coast
& no one will talk to a host that's close
Unless the host (that isn't close)
is busy, hung or dead

Please note that it's not original.  I copied it from a comment posted on the original link.

P.S.  What the fuck is that Carrot Man doing on my right?!  The bird picking the sheep's nose didn't really bother me, but that thing...gah.

They're really very similar, except that Carrot Top fights laughter.

I tripped over a carrot top image yesterday but I can't bear look at it again.

I present you in its place, drumroll please, Peruvian anti-riot police, seen here yesterday parading in celebration of independence day Peruano.

We never had anything quite so action figure-esque at our parades, though.  Do they come with laser pistols?

Pasting the most loathsome adults with water balloons during carnaval was sanctioned terrorism, the most fun I had as a kid. That and hiding in trees with a peashooter and slingshot. Plus, fireworks were legal.
