This is such a fucked up prude country!  I really prefer the French attitude of politely ignoring sexual activity or fetishes you don’t wish to participate in.  The magazine kiosks on the street display porn alongside the rest of the magazines; you buy it or not, it’s no big deal.  The TV has shows that leave little to the imagination; you use the remote if you don’t want to see people having sex.  At night, the parks are full of men and women sucking dicks; everyone else stays away or minds their own business if they take a shortcut through the park.  Only a very few emotionally disturbed people call for censorship or want the authorities to harass people who don’t lead vanilla lives.  I wish Americans could grow up and learn to mind their own business.

What can you expect? America was founded on Europe's effluent. Fred Phelps and all his friends got off the boat at Plymouth Rock. Those huddled masses? Superstitious peasants and the righteously insane.

There is a difference between private activities and crime that directly impacts other people.  I don’t care who my neighbors hump; in most cases I would prefer to think of them as asexual.  I’m not saying the French are all enlightened and open minded.  Many of them are quite conservative; the difference is they choose not to see private behavior that conflicts with their own values and they mind their own business.  Whatever they may think privately, they tend not to comment publicly on other people’s lives.

I disdain Whites who choose to mate with negroes and have no qualms about expressing that view here.  In real life, I choose not to acknowledge Whites who engage in this behavior, and if I no choice but to deal with them, my interactions are as brief as possible.  Many moons ago I mentioned a cousin who married a hispanic negress and produced a litter of mulattos.  With the exception of his parents, the rest of the family ignores him.  None of us say nasty things to him; we simply don’t participate in his life.  This is how I choose to deal with people who make life choices I don’t like or minorities I don’t wish to associate with.

I have to admit, most of the time when I see a white gal with a black boyfriend, she'll be a mighty mighty big girl.  Not just typical-American-overweight big, either; more like...spherical.
And blonde.  If she's not a natural blonde she's usually dyed her hair.
I always figured it was a cultural thing and, like Dirckman, thought it was nice that spherical ladies can occasionally get laid, too.

I don't consider Will Smith to be "black"...  There's quite a few people out there I don't consider black and I just consider them to be a "dude" like you or me...  With these people I don't get that little xenophobic twinge at all...  I think I'm willing to accept black people if they don't define themselves by their color and define themselves just by being themselves..  I tend to notice this the most when watching TV..  There will be a black person on the tube and if they talk and dress like a black person I feel a certain level of animosity towards them, but if they dress and talk normal I tend to respect and value their opinion just like I would a white fellas...  I don't know if this makes me sound good or bad, but at least I'm being honest...

And now that you've gone back and read the whole post, and not just the bottom half (and I do mean half), I will address your question as though it were contextually relevant.
1. I am usually in control of how I sound. Controlling the sound of words is what I do. It would certainly work against my interest were I  not to care about what I do, would it not? (I chose to end that phrase with a conditional, to keep you, dear pENIx, feeling warm and involved).
2. What does it mean to "barely give anyone a chance to demonstrate intelligence"? Are you saying that the denizens of High-Street are so shy and bashful they can't get a word in around me? Or just that they're stupid? Either way, I take issue with such a presumptuously inclusive hyperbole. I play with the kids on High-Street because they tend to be smart (with the occasional exception), outspoken, and ready to go toe-to-toe. If i wanted to worry about people's feelings, I'd hang out with the equally intelligent, but possibly less robust souls at Chimere.
3. I attack slack thinking, sometimes viciously, but I do not prey indiscriminately. There are people here who are afflicted with terrible language skills, or with a congenital mediocrity of thought. I accept one or the other, but both in the same phrase-limned silhouette can only indicate one thing: ungulate (if male) or ruminant (if not. In the electronically unassisted portion of my life I live off leaves, but here, on that great (grey-green greasy) cattle-grazing ground we know as High-Street.Org(y), occasionally I nip at a heel, lunge at a jugular, pull down a moon-calf and sate my thirst for blood. It's nothing personal. Hell, sometimes I even feel bad about it. But none of that matters, because a carnivore needs his viands.
4. To end this sorry reprimand, I'd like to say that it's charming and even manly of you to beetle to Dirckman's defense, but I'm not sure it will bring you any satisfying gains. Dirckman appears to be heterosexual, and besides, he's not an idiot - he clearly has an advanced degree in Psychology. He can defend himself, or choose not to, or even realize that the initial commentary was conveyed through the medium of imitative jest, blowing warm and cool in concert, like Miles in Sketches of Spain.

Dirckman doesn't need my defense, but he also doesn't need your ivory belltower shooting at whoever happens to catch your ire ("See the people down their in online land, they look like ants!"). You don't know anybody, but you'll make your mostly arbitrary decisions about who's worth sparring with, while the rest of us wonder who you're going to nominate for abuse, next. Having been the direct recipient of your rainbows and sunbeams, I feel confident in my observation, and you needn't defend against it. Either it's just the way you are, and the rest of the world has to change to suit you, or you're outrageously bored, and your mixed-use guttersniping/high dudgeon is exclusively for your own amusement.

I was just kind of scanning this thread until I saw the Group Hug image and figured I'd missed some drama.  Imagine my surprise when I discovered that Wilbur had somehow gotten his feelings hurt.  As I was wading through the fallout I had an epiphany.

I finally understand what makes Wilbur tick.  The Chinese puzzle box of artifice and word-trickery that makes up the CuntLicker has finally been opened.

You see, he's not Canadian, he's "Canadian".

Oh, and BTW, can you folks PLEASE not use the ;autoplay=0!?  It's a real pain in the ass.  It kicks off when you're at work or in a quiet place, and when there's another one on the same page - no matter where you are - it's a real cacophonic mess.  Further, normally YouTube doesn't start downloading until you hit 'play', so if your connection is a bit slow and an 'autoplay' YouTube kicks in, you'll likely have to wait for it to finish before you can successfully listen to anything else.

Basically, it's presumptuous and damned rude.

Please allow us the courtesy to play your stuff when we would like to, not when you force us to.

Yes...I enjoyed Brassed Off, and the first third of OJ is gorgeous, but when the drum and bass kicks in I become annoyed. On a tangential note, I used to fight bitterly with "pure" guitarists because all I wanted to play were the Spanish romantics, transcribed ragtime and transcribed Bach...but especially the Spanish. If i weren't slightly whiter than the inside of a can of white paint, I'd suspect myself of being part dago.

I rarely cry at movies, but the scenes with the speech near the end of the movie, and the other one with the playing of Danny Boy, they do it every time...

And that absolutely riveting scene when "Mr. Chuckles" goes off the rails at the children's party - well, that's about the finest acting I've ever experienced - it's truly visceral...

Phil: [as Mr. Chuckles] "So God was creating man. And his little assistant came up to him and he said: "Hey, we've got all these bodies left, but we're right out of brains, we're right out of hearts and we're right out of vocal chords." And God said: "Fuck it! Sew 'em up anyway. Smack smiles on the faces and make them talk out of their arses." And lo, God created the Tory Party. ... What's He doing? He can take John Lennon. He can take those three young lads down at Ainsley Pit. He's even thinking of taking my old man. And Margaret bloody Thatcher lives! What's He sodding playing at, eh?"

Really, people. WATCH THIS FILM.  If you don't you'll regret it. Maybe not today. Maybe not tomorrow, but soon and for the rest of your life.   (OK, so that's over the top, but really - this one ranks up there with Harold & Maude as one of my all-time best-of-the-best.)
